Cases and case studies on business reporting
Cases and case studies on financial consolidation
Examples and cases
The project approach
HB Software develops a first basic reporting set (income statement and balance sheet) and sets up the database. You will receive a three-day training in application management and form building, after which you and your colleagues can get to work themselves. HB Software will then take a step back and support you in creating and modifying your own sets.
Consolidation and forecasting of projects
A Dutch construction company entrusts its business processes to its ERP. However, forecasts are made in the region and the financial consolidation is done with Exsion Corporate. Exsion Corporate thus forms the financial reporting hub of the company: forecasts are evaluated every month and future profitability is closely monitored.
Consolidation of floating equipment
An internationally operating towage company uses Exsion Corporate to collect data on the business operations of ships sailing the world's seas. Each month, the holding company knows the results of each individual ship and how it will develop in the future.
Consolidation of investments
An investment company has worldwide investments in mining and companies that produce raw materials. Local auditors draw up the figures on a quarterly basis and submit reports that are consolidated using Exsion Corporate, which in turn generates overviews. The investment manager can perfectly monitor the performance of the operating company. The investment company can make the changes in reporting packages itself.
Consolidation and forecast
The cooperative has branches in 22 countries. There is 1 ERP system used for product and inventory management and financial administration, excluding financial planning and reporting. Exsion Corporate supports exclusion of sales between sectors, budgeting, forecasting and financial consolidation. Reporting for the Supervisory Board is generated automatically.
Consolidation in buy-and-build strategy
Exsion Corporate has been running smoothly and steadily for years, offering financial and management consolidation to 350 companies in Europe. The listed parent decides to make the largest acquisition in its history. In two months time 180 extra companies have to be consolidated and 150 extra users (automatically) have to provide the figures. The deadlines are met and after two months the figures of the new subsidiary are consolidated.
Consolidation continuing after split-off
An English company is taken over by an investment company. In order to run through the reporting, Exsion Corporate, the consolidation system of the parent company, is purchased. The reporting set is largely taken over. The investment company brings other American companies under the aforementioned company and partly floats the group on the stock exchange. Exsion Corporate demonstrates its flexibility in dealing with these changes and forms the reporting backbone of this international company.
Action and benefits
Consolidation in the blink of an eye
Time for things that are really important
With Exsion Corporate, you no longer have to go after the numbers to get complete overviews. In the central database behind Exsion Corporate, all reports from the group are automatically read and consolidated. Cutting and pasting is therefore a thing of the past, so the data is correct all at once. Even your presentation form - like a beautiful digital book or a printvarian - is put together by Exsion for you. Now you can spend time on the things that really matter.
One solution for all reporting
Because all the data is already in the database
During import and consolidation, Exsion takes your work off your hands. Thanks to smart checks and validations, all data that is read at the source is correct. During consolidation Exsion performs the calculations that are important for your reports. You can easily build the reports yourself, so you do not need a consultant for every change you want to make. Because of the flexibility of Exsion Corporate -Exsion actually fits on any digital source - many clients use the software for e.g. safety reports, liquidity forecasts and reports on your ecological footprint.
The software is created using Microsoft technology and common Office products (such as Excel and Outlook). The database comes in SQL Server Express format (the free version). To run Exsion Corporate you will need a relatively light server. Investments in hardware and software are limited and very easily scalable. We can also deliver Exsion Corporate as a cloud solution.
Examples and cases
The project approach
The strength of Exsion Reporting is that it allows you to quickly and easily create reports, exactly like you want them. A list, an overview or a dashboard with KPIs, and much more. You can create custom reports yourself, there is no need to hire expensive consultants.
Faster and Cheaper Audits
An increasing number of companies are facing increasing and changing regulation, as well as increasing audits. Think of, for example, accountants and banks that require overviews, but also clients who want know precisely which batch contained which product(s). And, preferably, as soon as possible. You have not even finished the current accounting statement yet, so to speak, and are already expected to present the next one. With Exsion, you can quickly change reports and have them printed at the press of a button. One of our clients told us that the use of Exsion resulted in a reduction of accounting costs of 50 per cent.
Easily Modifiable Debtor Statements
Every company pays attention to its liquidity position. After all, you want to know if you are still able to pay your bills. To do so, you need to quickly determine who your debtors are, in other words, those clients who have not paid. You can find a debtor statement in BC/NAV. You can also create one in Exsion, the big difference being that you can easily modify it in Exsion. For example, adding a phone number in a separate column to facilitate follow-up calls to clients is easy, and if you would like to commence with those most overdue, it is just a matter of simply configuring a different filter and the list will be presented in front of you.
Weekly Sales Overviews for the Trade Sector
International trading companies want to know the profit margins of their products. Often, it seems simple, but complex in practice. For example, in the case of compound products, or if products are available in different variants. Vendors have their General Terms and Conditions, as do clients, who often also insist or have agreed on quantity discounts. In order to calculate the profit margin of a given product, Business Central/NAV must be configured properly. With Exsion, for example, you can easily determine the top 10 of products with the highest profit margin or turnover rate.
Overview of Construction Projects
Construction companies generate income through the construction projects they carry out. Procurement of materials, temporary workers, hours worked by staff members, all of the aforementioned are expense items. As profit margins in construction are low, you want to know whether the margins made suffice, or adjustment is required. The advantage of Exsion is that you can easily retrieve data from Business Central/NAV, as well as calculate forecasts within Excel. As a result, dozens of construction companies currently use Exsion.
